FERAL FANCIERS
Feral Fanciers, Inc. is primarily a TNR organization that does not operate a shelter. We measure the number of spay/neuters, TNRs, and adoptions.

FINANCES:
In addition to the 76% of its annual income that Feral Fanciers spends on TNR of feral and/or free-roaming cats, another 7% of income is spent on food for TNR colonies and 14% on fostering and adoption of friendly free-roaming cats or socialized feral kittens. ONLY 3% OF INCOME IS USED FOR ADMINISTRATION AND OPERATING COSTS.
IMPACT:
One of the ways we measure our impact through the cat intake numbers of the Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) Animal Control. A request for current records specific to cats revealed that in 2009 12,832 stray cats were impounded. The total number of cats euthanized, which includes stays and owner surrendered, at the PCSO Animal Control in 2009 was 14,335. In 2010, 12,361 stray cats were impounded. The total number of cats euthanized, which includes stays and owner surrendered, at the PCSO Animal Control in 2010 was 13,611. There was a more dramatic reduction in cat in take from 2008 to 2009 of about 10%. We believe that we have had a direct impact on that number. The decrease from 2009 to 2010 is less dramatic (3.7%) due to, we believe, the economic conditions which resulted in higher pet abandonment rates and less financial resources for us to grow and expand our trapping efforts.
